Linux Engineer

Our client is looking for a Linux Engineer to support the JS J7 Joint Training DevSecOps pipeline core infrastructure and data center in Suffolk, VA.
This role is 100% onsite.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Designing, implementing, and managing Linux-based operating systems.
• Installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting Linux servers, networks, and applications.
• Customizing solutions for specific business needs using Linux and open-source technologies.
• Monitoring Unix/Linux open-source operating systems, resolving user issues, and implementing protective measures.
• Overseeing and handling systems operating on Linux servers, including installation, upgrades, and regular maintenance checks.
• Administering and maintaining a company's Linux-based systems, ensuring security patches and software updates.
Certifications (IAT Level II)
One of the following:
• Security+ CE
• GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
• Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP)
• System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
• RHCSA Red Hat Certified System Administrator (preferred)
• RHCDS Red Hat Certified Data Center Specialist (preferred)
Required Skills
• A Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of experience with data design in a consulting or internal role, defining data strategy and architectures while developing and mentoring staff at all levels to build and deliver high quality and highly innovative simulation services.
• At least 5 years of experience related to DoD major systems or programs.
Candidates must be US citizens able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance as a condition of employment
