We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team in Charleston, SC. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the network's security, performance, and scalability to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
Responsibilities
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-
Design, implement, and manage the organization’s network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers.
Lead the planning, configuration, and optimization of network systems, ensuring high availability and scalability.
Troubleshoot network issues and provide root cause analysis, resolving incidents in a timely manner.
Collaborate with system administrators, security teams, and other departments to integrate network solutions with the organization's systems.
Perform regular network performance monitoring and conduct capacity planning to ensure the network can handle growing demands.
Implement and enforce network security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs.
Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration templates, and policies.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior network engineers, assisting with troubleshooting and professional development.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continually improve network architecture and security.
Manage and optimize the use of cloud networking solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) where applicable.
Ensure network compliance with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Provide on-call support and perform network upgrades or maintenance as required.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
Extensive experience with enterprise-level routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.).
Experience with cloud networking services and hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Familiarity with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting) is a plus.
Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+, or similar are highly preferred.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of network security best practices and experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN technologies.
Experience with SD-WAN, MPLS, and WAN optimization is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced certifications (e.g., Cisco CCIE, Juniper JNCIE, or similar).
Experience with network automation and orchestration frameworks.
Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
Experience in working with remote and distributed teams.
