Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator (Tier II/III)
Location: Lorton, VA (Onsite 3 days/week, Remote 2 days/week)

Overview:
Apex Systems seeks a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator to support a Federal Program within the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Lorton, VA. This program provides comprehensive IT services, including software application support, enterprise infrastructure support, service desk, ITSM, deskside support, workstation engineering and maintenance, telecommunications and mobility engineering services, managed print services, Active Directory services, and video conferencing.

Role Summary:
The Senior Systems Administrator will provide expert-level system administration services to manage and maintain the equipment, networks, and web applications supporting the field communications systems deployed by our customer. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Apply STIGs using DISA SCAP or OpenSCAP tools; harden servers using DISA STIG and other guidance; create Golden Images for future deployments.
• Provide operations and maintenance (O&M) support for a mission-critical government system, collaborating with senior system administrators.
• Manage and maintain Dell PowerEdge R940 servers & iDRAC for disaster recovery/management.
• Administer VMWare vSphere & VMWare vCenter Server.
• Manage Windows Server 2019 & later, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 & later.
• Deploy patches and fixlets using BigFix Patch Management; ensure patches are tested and applied with minimal downtime.
• Administer Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS); manage domain controller certificates, CRLs, and certificate revocations.
• Ensure availability of web services via Internet Information Services (IIS) for certificate authority information access (AIA) and other services.
• Resolve complex systems and software-related issues independently and effectively.
• Develop solutions for technical issues on complex software and systems.
• Configure, monitor, and maintain Active Directory (AD) structure to ensure high availability and data consistency.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and diagrams related to field communications systems equipment and networks.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience. High school diploma with 12+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• US Citizenship is required. Candidate must meet eligibility requirements for a Government Public Trust security investigation.
• Extensive experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on various operating systems (Windows Server, RHEL), patch management, and Active Directory.
• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and configuring systems infrastructure.
• Experience providing O&M support to complex, mission-critical systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
• Strong communication skills to interface with customers, including senior management.

Desired Qualifications:
• RHEL certification
• Security Engineering experience
• Business Analysis/Requirements Development experience
• Technical Writing and Documentation experience
• Government contracting experience, particularly with the DOJ
• DOJ Clearance
Pay Rate: $50 - $70 per hour & $145K at the time of conversion
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 9 am – 5 pm
