Position: Red Switch (DRSN) Technician
Location: Pentagon, Washington D.C.
Duration: Long Term Contract (Paid Federal Holidays, Sick Leave, PTO after 1 year)
Clearance: TS-SCI Required
Shift: Panama Shift (24x7 operations)
Description:
Must have excellent communications skills, successful completion of technical training associated with operations and maintenance of the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) DSS-2A Switch, Tech Control Facility equivalent to that required for US military, Communications-Computer Systems Control Technician or the equivalent civilian training and work experience in a similar civilian or military systems control facility is required.
Successful completion of military/civilian communications electrons courses such as Radio Relay Maintenance, Computer Switching Systems Maintenance, and Cryptographic Maintenance along with operation experience associated with technical control or patch and test facility will be considered in lieu of formal technical controller training.
Must have strong background and working knowledge of the DISA Operational Circulars.
Must be familiar with various encryption devices, e.g. KG-175D, KIV-7M, KIV-19M, KIK-30, AN/PYQ 10, STE-R, etc, including device substitution, key and re-keying.
Responsibilities include:
Operate DRSN switch and associated hardware respectively IAW technical manuals.
Perform scheduled, unscheduled, corrective operation and maintenance.
Perform fault isolation, and repair of DRSN equipment and circuits.
Perform preventative maintenance on DRSN equipment to include replacement of circuit cards or major sub-assemblies.
Perform minor installations as part of O&M and assist during major installations.
Perform software functions and translations for any add, move, change, delete, query of a circuit or system data, service order, trouble assistance, records administration.
Perform software upgrades and all operation and maintenance IAW Defense Information System Agency (DISA), Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Operations and O&M Guide, and Technical Manuals.
Perform database management; logistics support functions and DRSN installation and configuration of Integrated Service Telephones, Multifunction Digital Adapters, UDLT Multiplexers, Cryptographic devices, CSU/DSU/CTP equipment.
Technician will maintain continuous operations of the DRSN 24 hours per day/7 days per week/365 days per year.
