Apex Systems has an immediate opening available for a Data Engineer working out of Alexandria, VA with one of our GovCon clients supporting a mission-critical DoD program. Location: onsite in Alexandria, VA
Duration: 6+ month contract-to-hire
Clearance: Must possess an active TS/SCI per federal program requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data analytics and reporting.
- Integrate data from various sources into a centralized data warehouse or data lake.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data needs and deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Optimize and tune data workflows for performance and efficiency.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data systems.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Required Experience:
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
- Proficient in SQL and experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
- Knowledge of ETL tools and processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Required Technical Skills:
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Sec+ Certification
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Develop and implement data validation and monitoring processes.
- Document data processes, architectures, and standards.
- Stay updated with the latest data engineering tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in data architecture design and review sessions.
