Virtualization Engineer
Security Clearance: DOD Secret (Fully Adjudicated), as a minimum
Position Location: Radford, VA or Ft. Belvoir/VA
Position Duties:
• Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the datacenter architecture.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of the VMware suite of products
• Utilize IaC for the provisioning of the customer enclaves.
• Provide daily administration of the VMware products to include patching and upgrading of all VMware components.
• Monitor utilization of all virtualization resources and notify the team lead when additional resources will be required.
• Harden the VMware products per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls.
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any hosting platform issues.
• Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures).
• Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
• Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.
Required Skills:
• Senior level experience with the VMware suite of products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation, Tanzu).
• Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack – network, storage, server, and applications.
Desired Skills:
• Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.
Required Certifications:
• Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IA Tech Level II certification.
• Must have (or obtain within 6 months of hire) VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Advanced Professional (VCAP), or Design Expert (VCDX) certification in any of the following tracks:
• Data Center Virtualization
• Cloud Management and Automation
• Network Virtualization
• Application Modernization
