Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting critical virtual infrastructure for our Department of Defense (DoD) customer. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing Azure Virtual Desktop environments in a secure, enterprise-level setting. This role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented professional who can operate in a fast-paced and mission-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments in accordance with DoD security and compliance standards.
• Support the deployment, configuration, and optimization of virtual desktops, applications, and user profiles.
• Monitor and maintain AVD performance, ensuring high availability and system reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to virtual environments, networking, authentication, and policy enforcement.
• Integrate AVD with Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, FSLogix, and other key technologies.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and SOPs.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement secure configurations and vulnerability mitigation strategies.
• Provide support for patching, software updates, and system upgrades.
• Participate in planning and execution of continuity of operations (COOP) and disaster recovery strategies.
Required Qualifications:
• Active DoD Secret Clearance.
• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure, with specific expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop.
• Strong understanding of Windows 10/11 multi-session and Windows Server environments.
• Hands-on experience with FSLogix profile containers and Group Policy management.
• Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation and deployment tasks.
• Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks (e.g., STIGs, RMF).
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent Azure certifications.
• Experience supporting DoD or other federal customers in a classified environment.
• Familiarity with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates or Bicep for infrastructure-as-code deployments.
• Experience with Intune, MEM, and endpoint security solutions.
Work Environment & Conditions:
• On-site role in Colorado Springs, CO.
• Some after-hours or on-call support may be required.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
