Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and escalate incidents as needed.
- High level experience in cyber threat detection, response, and mitigation in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.
- Extremely proficient in advanced cyber analytical techniques, including threat hunting, log analysis, and use of SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, ArcSight).
- Extensive experience supporting DoD cyber protection missions and working knowledge of DoD network certification, accreditation processes, and system security authorization agreements (SSAA).
- Hands-on experience conducting Computer Network Defense (CND) and Computer Network Exploitation (CNE) operations in support of mission objectives.
- Skilled in packet analysis, malware analysis, and signature development to detect and respond to APTs (Advanced Persistent Threats).
- Familiar with common programming/scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or C for automation and tool development.
- Practical experience with firewalls, network TAPs, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and other network defense technologies.
- Proficient in administering and troubleshooting Linux systems (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu) in a cybersecurity context.
- Experienced in developing, deploying, configuring, and maintaining cybersecurity tools and defensive applications.
- Extremely strong troubleshooting abilities in resolving software and hardware issues affecting security posture.
- Proficient in configuring and securing networking devices (switches, routers, firewalls) to support cyber defense missions.
- Working knowledge of Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) processes and compliance with DoD directives.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, ACAS) and compliance assessment frameworks (e.g., STIGs, RMF).
Duties to Include but not limited to:
- Conduct advanced cyber analysis and reporting.
- Act as the technical liaison between customers, external stakeholders, site POCs, and other technical SMEs.
- Brief, document, and communicate status and issues to stakeholders.
- Mentor junior technical team members and raise the level of technical acumen of the team.
- Provide technical insights and recommendations to the customer.
- Collaborate with DoD leadership, customer coordinators, and authoritative subject matter experts.
- Provide recommendations on appropriate hardware and software required to optimize advanced cyber assessments.
- Provide recommendations on appropriate find and fix actions.
- Write technical analysis reports based on analytical facts found during the research and development.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field such as computer science or engineering.
- In lieu of a degree, direct related operational experience may be substituted.
- Cyber Defense Analysts must hold an IAT Level II as defined and described in DoDD 8570.01, 8570.01-M, 8140.01-03 and as amended.
Preferred Experience:
- CSSP Auditor certification as defined and described in DoDD 8570.01, 8570.01-M, 8140.01-03 and as amended.
