Come join Lockheed Martin Space's Flight Sciences team in support of the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) Program (and more!) as an Aero/Hydro Engineer. The CPS system will travel at hypersonic velocities. Building a system that goes that fast means overcoming a number of difficult physics and engineering challenges.
As an Aero/Hydro Engineer you will integrate hypersonic, submarine launched, missile technology into a naval weapon system on a highly accelerated schedule to deliver a hypersonic operational prototype system to the Warfighter. Lockheed Martin's CPS system will be capable of flying at several times the speed of sound and will provide a timely response to varying threat scenarios. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Performing a variety of aerodynamics analyses related to missile systems and with a particular emphasis on hypersonics and hydrodynamics.
• Creating technical memos.
• Providing input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews.
• Presenting analysis results to internal engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel during technical exchange meetings.
To be effective in this role, you will need:
• 9+ years professional experience; 7+ years with Masters degree.
• While no clearance is needed to start in this position, you will need to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance, thus US Citizenship is required.
Basic Qualifications:
• MS or BS and/or equivalent education and experience in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering with coursework/research concentration in fluid dynamics and/or gas dynamics.
• Strong educational background in some/all of the following disciplines: hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, gas dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, and computer programming.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, be self-motivated, and be able and willing to support multiple projects.
• Must be a US citizen and must have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
Desired Skills:
• Masters Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• A strong education/experience in some/all of the following disciplines: hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, gas dynamics, propulsion, rigid body dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, and computer programming is a plus.
• Expertise in one or more of the following programming languages: MatLab, C/C++, Python, Fortran.
Experience in using following software packages: Ansys Fluent,Siemens STAR-CCM+, Pointwise, and TecPlot or other grid generation and CFD software.
• Experience with testing and instrumentation.
• Current SECRET or higher security clearance.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
