Raytheon is seeking a Principal EMI Test Engineer specializing in EMI/EMC (Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility) testing to join our Test Environments Team in McKinney, TX. The mission of the EMI Test Engineer is to facilitate and ensure the effective planning and execution of EMI/EMC testing at our Environmental Test Lab (ETL). The ideal candidate will frequently interface with leaders and technical subject matter experts within the programs and customer communities, as well as Engineering Leaders and cross-discipline development teams to ensure readiness to support the various test events.

What You Will Do
  • Analyze test cases and provide regular progress reports.
  • Collaborate with customers and engineers to establish/clarify test, qualification, verification and validation requirements.
  • Write test plans, procedures and reports for testing based on standards such as MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464.
  • Participate in the estimation of costs and schedules to develop or upgrade test platforms.
  • Perform detailed calculations to establish test equipment specifications and design margins.
  • Work independently under minimal supervision and guidance to perform tasks of substantial complexity.
  • Design, fabrication, standardization and documentation of EMC Test Configuration Set-ups and Fixtures.


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience.
  • Experience with developing and/or testing electronic assemblies.
  • Experience with Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and/or Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Previous work experience with setup and execution of EMI / EMC testing
  • Previous work experience with MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464.
  • Familiar with planning, executing, and reporting on electrical power quality testing in accordance with MIL-STD-704 and RTCA/DO-160 test standards.
  • Familiar with planning, executing, and reporting on lightning inducted transient testing in accordance with MIL-STD-464, RTCA/DO-160, and SAE ARP5412 test standards.
  • Ability to logically solve problems, organize materials, and keep projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.
  • iNARTE certification
  • Experience with basic AC/DC circuits.
  • Understanding of RF theory along with ability in troubleshooting related to failures during EMC testing of electronic HW design and at system test level.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
