Job Summary
The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.
The Acquisition Planning and Decision Analytics (APDA) Department is seeking a Sr Space Systems Engineer to join a diverse, innovative, and highly productive team of acquisition, systems, digital, and data engineering professionals. This growing, geographically distributed department supports a wide range of customers in the National Security, Civil and Commercial, and International Space Communities. APDA applies deep technical acquisition & systems engineering expertise and data-driven capability enablers to improve decision making to form a sound basis for space, ground, and launch system program acquisition lifecycle activities.

What You'll Be Doing
- Provide technical leadership in systems engineering to support requirements gathering, concept development, and analysis of alternatives
- Guide the front-end systems engineering and integration functions that span a mission enterprise
- Perform objective analysis of systems-of-systems, space, ground, launch, or Command and Control (C2) systems
- Design solutions to complex problems by interfacing and collaborating with industry leaders and subject matter experts
- Strengthen programs by performing independent program assessments
- Improve acquisition, systems engineering, and operational outcomes by developing innovative, fit-to-need approaches with supporting analytical planning products
- Balance and actively contribute to multiple work assignments
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant STEM field from an accredited program
- 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments
- Demonstrated experience leading and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, maintaining effective working relationships among various Aerospace, customer, and contractor organizations
- Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
- Demonstrated ability to optimally present complex technical material to customers
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and able to manage and perform multiple simultaneous tasks in a dynamic environment
- Willing to travel as necessary for work assignments
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree from an accredited program in an applicable field
- Operational experience linking strategic objectives with tactics, techniques, and procedures
- Experience applying model-based systems engineering, digital engineering, or concurrent engineering methods and tools to a major acquisition program
- Experience with modern development methodologies, rapid prototyping / fielding (Middle Tier Acquisition)
- Experience providing technical risk assessments
- Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Engineering and Technical Management Certification or other relevant certification
- An active Top Secret/SCI with Poly, which is issued by the U.S. government
