Join a team of Research, Design, Test, & Evaluation (RDT&E) professionals who are identifying, developing, demonstrating, and assessing technologies and concepts to help protect America's homeland in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Office of Mission and Capability Support (MCS).
Purpose/Scope:
Amentum is seeking a Research Analyst to serve as a subject matter expert providing comprehensive analysis support to homeland security operations. This position requires advanced analytical capabilities, effective communication skills, and deep understanding of law enforcement processes, particularly in immigration enforcement contexts. The analyst will evaluate data from multiple sources, develop insightful reports, and present findings to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making for DHS Component R&D operational priorities.
The position is REMOTE with strong preference for candidates around the NCR.

This position requires advanced analytical capabilities, effective communication skills, and deep understanding of law enforcement processes, particularly in immigration enforcement contexts. The analyst will evaluate data from multiple sources, develop insightful reports, and present findings to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making for DHS Component R&D operational priorities.
The position is REMOTE with strong preference for candidates around the NCR.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate information from diverse sources including automated database systems, operational reports, case files, and various internal and external systems
- Collect, collate, and synthesize raw, primary, and secondary data to produce comprehensive analytical products
- Evaluate incoming reports and information to perform interpretations, assessments, and strategic projections
- Prepare basic to complex descriptive analytical reports to inform operational and strategic planning
- Develop and deliver presentations, in conjunction with team members, to effectively communicate findings to senior leadership
- Communicate with various internal and external law enforcement partners and community members to gain better understanding of sources, operations, missions, and requirements
- Ensure all activities comply with laws, regulations, executive orders, and directives promulgated by Congress
- Identify emerging trends and patterns relevant to homeland security priorities, particularly in immigration enforcement
- Provide analytical support for complex investigations and operations
- Contribute subject matter expertise to enhance analytical methodologies and practices
Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship
- Must be able to pass DHS entry on duty (EOD) requirements to start and maintain Public Trust suitability status
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, International Relations, or related field and 5+ years of experience in analytical roles supporting law enforcement operations
- Demonstrated experience with advanced analytical methods and techniques
- Proven ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and develop comprehensive reports
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience preparing and delivering presentations to senior leadership
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and directives governing homeland security operations
- Position will require occasional travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Public Trust designation
- Active security clearance
- Retired law enforcement professional, with emphasis on immigration law enforcement experience
- Advanced degree in relevant field
- Experience in cyber, national security, science, or other related fields
- Knowledge of database systems and analytical tools used in homeland security contexts
- Experience working in multi-agency collaborative environments
- Background in threat assessment and risk analysis
