Senior Principal Electrical Engineer

Scottsdale, AZ

Contract Position

Pay Estimated: $114.72-$119.72/Hour

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors, (geographical location, etc.)

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, integration, and strategic planning of cutting-edge electrical systems for mission-critical applications.
  • Apply advanced engineering and leadership principles to design and manage complex ruggedized electronics systems.
  • Direct system architecture, requirements definition, integration, and test strategies across multifunctional teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction to ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and program milestones.
  • Oversee multiple engineering functions, collaborating across departments and interfacing with executive leadership and key external stakeholders.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across tactical data networks, satellite communications, and ground-to-satellite systems.
  • Evaluate, define, and refine system requirements, functional analysis, and trade studies to guide product development.
  • Coordinate efforts with GFE WAN providers and subcontractors to ensure accurate system integration and interface definition.
  • Contribute to the development of company-wide policies and technical frameworks influencing future project and product roadmaps.
  • Interface with government and defense partners, including SDA, Iridium, Northrup, York, and Lockheed, on technical execution and strategic alignment.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience (or 8 years with a Master's).
  • Proven expertise in systems engineering lifecycle, from concept through validation and deployment.
  • Strong experience in satellite communications, tactical data networks, and system-level architecture.
  • Advanced proficiency in system decomposition, interface control documentation (ICD), and modeling and simulation (M&S).
  • In-depth knowledge of requirements management, functional allocation, and trade study execution.
  • Experience with multi-level security domain systems and cross-domain solutions.
  • Strong background in Agile program environments and lightweight requirements tracking.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with system security certification, compliance, and MIL standards.
    • Familiarity with SDA mission systems, Iridium, and other defense communications networks.
    • Expertise in ground operations systems and WAN/LAN design.
    • Proficiency with tools such as DOORS, MATLAB, Jira, and MBSE tools.
    • Agile certifications or experience leading Agile-based programs.
