Are you a mission-driven individual looking to launch your career in data science? This isn't your average internship!
Join HII - Mission Technologies and make a difference by joining us as a Data Scientist Intern for Summer 2025. This is a temporary 8 week internship designed to provide a college student with hands-on experience in the analysis, modeling, and interpretation of data to support real-world projects in a mission-focused environment.
The ideal candidate will be pursuing a STEM degree and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eagerness to explore real-world data science applications.
Permanent U.S. work authorization without the need for sponsorship now or in the future is also required.

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting, cleaning, preprocessing, and analyzing structured and unstructured data from various sources.
- Support the development and evaluation of statistical models and machine learning algorithms to identify patterns and trends.
- Help create data visualizations to effectively communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data-driven projects in support of defense and technology initiatives.
- Contribute to documentation of data workflows, modeling processes, and analytical findings.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with between 40% and 60% of the required credits completed.
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.).
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 while participating in this internship.
Skills:
- Strong academic performance in coursework related to data science, statistics, or computer programming.
- Proficiency with Python, Java, and C++.
- Basic understanding of statistical techniques, machine learning concepts, and data wrangling.
- Previous AI/ML experience working within the intelligence community.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to present data-driven insights clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Location Requirements
- Must be able to go in person to HII Arlington office several times a week.
