We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Junior Systems Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and deployment of application development projects aligned with IT infrastructure goals. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to work on innovative, large-scale systems under the guidance of senior engineers and lead architects. The ideal candidate will contribute to the integration of third-party components, automation of O&M tasks, and implementation of new capabilities while gaining hands-on experience across the full software development life cycle. An active Top Secret clearance is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design, development, and management of IT applications and systems in support of enterprise infrastructure.
Support the integration of third-party tools and components into custom software environments.
Contribute to the enhancement and modification of existing applications based on evolving requirements.
Assist in identifying and recommending process improvements and automation solutions to streamline operations and maintenance.
Participate in developing and deploying applications that include large-scale data processing, statistical modeling, and advanced analytics under the direction of senior engineers and architects.
Contribute to all phases of the software development life cycle, including planning, requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and quality assurance.
Support technical milestone reviews, architecture sessions, resource estimation activities, and the documentation of development best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure system requirements are clearly understood and met.
Maintain accurate documentation of system design, configurations, and deployment procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in systems engineering, software development, or IT operations.
Active Top Secret clearance is required.
Familiarity with application development tools, scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), and common programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, C#).
Basic understanding of system integration, testing procedures, and deployment methods.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow direction from senior engineers and architects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in secure or government IT environments.
Exposure to DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Understanding of systems architecture or systems modeling tools.
