ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a Technical Specialist to join our Abacus team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Abacus is a comprehensive software program that will replace several legacy systems used to collect, organize, classify, and validate multiple sources of traffic count data and facility/airspace analytics to enable proper assessment of complexity and an accurate calculation of a Traffic Count Index (TCI) for all FAA facilities.

We are looking for an individual to work independently, with limited supervision, and in a team environment. This individual:
  • Provides expertise in real-time software design, development, testing and interface of software with computer hardware systems.
  • Experience with complex software systems, mainframe and microcomputer programming including a variety of application and operating system software packages, the programming languages used for NAS systems such as C, C++, Java, SQL and Assembly.
  • Provides expertise in updating and developing web sites including HTML 5/XHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, SQL, JSON technologies.
  • Must be familiar with interfacing databases to client-side interfaces.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming techniques, client/server development, cross-browser development, and Unix/Linux skills may be required.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT : Permanent Residency (with 3 years residing in the US) or US Citizenship is required for the FAA Public Trust/background investigation.

Education Requirement
  • High School Diploma or GED required and three (3) years of related experience. OR
    • Associate's degree in a related filed will be accepted in lieu of two (2) years of experience. OR
    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor's degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science .

Required Skills
  • Experience with:
    • VSphere ESXI and COTS setup.
    • Monitoring and performing maintenance on applications, servers, and hardware equipment.
    • Troubleshooting server and system issues.
    • Technical documentation.
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently, as well as on a team.
    • Provide critical thinking.
    • Research technical issues and problem solve.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with:
    • Maintaining Linux OS, Virtual Machines, or any virtual environment.
    • Setting up VM images, clones, and system automation.
    • Relational databases, security patching, networking, and software/hardware upgrades.

Essential Job Duties
  • Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for Abacus.
  • Serve as a team member working on VMware ESXI infrastructure and hosted applications.
  • Configure and maintain infrastructure to ensure it meets organizational goals, such as security patching, infrastructure upgrades, troubleshooting, development, and testing of operational systems.
  • Participate in software and COTS upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
  • Work collaboratively with a team or individually on assigned projects to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and written, with a variety of stakeholders.

Work Environment
  • Full-time position with a standard flexible work schedule and occasional non-standard work hours.
  • 20% travel.
  • Cubicle environment.
