Job Title: CPSO/Facility Security Officer (FSO)
Location: Sterling VA 3 days a week /2 days WFH
Employment Type: Full-Time
Overview:
Highly motivated and detail-oriented Facility Security Officer (FSO) . This position supports compliance with U.S. government security regulations and company security policies.
The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of industrial security or a strong willingness to learn. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your career in security and compliance within the defense or government contracting industry.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with day-to-day operations of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and ensure compliance with Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) requirements.
• Support the management of personnel security clearances (e.g., e-QIP submissions, fingerprints, and incident reporting).
• Maintain security documentation and databases, such as Facility Clearance (FCL) records and NCAISS/NISS/DISS/NBIS systems.
• Conduct security briefings, debriefings, and annual refresher training.
• Assist with self-inspections, audits, and the preparation for DCSA security reviews.
• Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and processes to protect classified and sensitive information.
• Monitor and manage physical security requirements, including access control systems and visitor management.
• Support Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Insider Threat Program activities.
• Ensure SCIFs meet and maintains accreditation standards as outlined in ICD 705.
• Assist in enforcing policies for controlling access to SCIFs.
• Maintain logs of personnel entering/exiting the SCIF.
• Ensure all personnel with access to SCIFs have appropriate clearances and need-to-know.
• Ensure safeguarding of classified materials.
• Assist in implementing measures to prevent unauthorized disclosure of classified information.
• Conduct regular self-inspections of SCIFs to ensure compliance with government regulations.
• Assist in preparing for and facilitating external audits by accrediting authorities.
• Assist in addressing findings from audits and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate and report security incidents or violations involving SCIFs.
• Maintain records of all incidents and remediation efforts
• Work with security team to provide training to personnel on SCIF procedures, classified information handling, and insider threat awareness.
• Assist in development of security policies and distribute security policies, guidelines, and best practices.
• Stay current with government policies, regulations, and updates (e.g., NISPOM, ICD 705
Qualifications:
Required:
• U.S. citizenship.
• Active TS clearance
• 3+ years FSO experience.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn and work in multiple platforms for collaboration and tasking
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., security, criminal justice, or management)
• Knowledge of NISPOM, ICD-705, DCSA and IC guidelines, or other government security regulations.
• Previous experience with SAPS and SAPF construction helpful
• Experience with NISS/DISS/NBIS or other personnel security systems.
• Completion of CDSE FSO training for possessing facilities-required
