JOB TITLE: Information Technology Specialist (Mid)
GOVERNMENT AGENCY : Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Infrastructure Services & Back Office Support (ISBOS)
LOCATION: Onsite Position at the FBI CJIS location in Clarksburg, WV
POSITION TIMING: Contingent on award; expected contract start date June 2025

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Information Technology Specialist to join our team supporting the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of computer systems, networks, and hardware, ensuring they meet performance and security standards.
You will oversee system updates and patches, perform hardware diagnostics, and provide technical assistance to end users through helpdesk support. You will play a key role in implementing and maintaining IT security measures, including configuring firewalls and managing antivirus programs to protect the IT infrastructure. Additionally, you will manage IT assets, maintain inventory, and ensure compliance with software usage agreements.
As a part of the team, you will also contribute to IT projects such as system upgrades or new technology implementations, demonstrating leadership in planning, execution, and post-implementation support. Your responsibilities will include creating clear and concise documentation for IT systems and protocols, prioritizing tasks effectively, and staying up-to-date with cybersecurity best practices and emerging IT trends.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of IT experience, proficiency in programming languages, and the ability to work within an Agile environment. An active Top Secret clearance is required, with prior FBI program experience preferred.

Responsibilities
- Regularly update and maintain computer systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Install software updates and patches
- Perform hardware diagnostics and repairs where necessary.
- Oversee the performance and security of the network involving setting up new networks, managing network hardware, and monitoring for security breaches or inefficiencies.
- Provide technical assistance to end users typically handling helpdesk requests, troubleshooting issues, and offering solutions to employees experiencing technical difficulties.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect the IT infrastructure involving configuring firewalls, managing antivirus programs, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
- Manage IT assets, including hardware and software inventories, keeping track of licenses, and ensuring the organization is compliant with software usage agreements.
- Create and maintain documentation related to IT systems and protocols ensuring that procedures are well-documented, facilitating consistency and ease of troubleshooting.
- Lead or assist with IT projects, such as system upgrades or the introduction of new technologies involving planning, execution, and post-implementation support.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of computer systems, networks, and operating systems with skills in troubleshooting hardware and software issues and have a solid understanding of network configurations.
- Possess strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently including both proactive problem-solving to prevent issues and reactive problem-solving to address them as they arise.
- Convey technical information clearly to non-technical users, adept at explaining complex concepts in a way that is understandable and actionable for colleagues without technical backgrounds.
- Ensuring systems are correctly configured, and issues are thoroughly documented and resolved.
- Coordinate and implement IT initiatives. This includes time management, task prioritization, and stakeholder communication.
- Working knowledge and understanding cybersecurity principles and best practices. IT Specialists need to stay current with the latest threats and know how to safeguard the company's IT environment.
- Demonstrate a patient and a customer-centric approach to providing tech support. ensuring a positive experience for end-users seeking assistance.
- Quickly learn new technologies and adapt to an ever-changing IT landscape sustaining the rapid pace of technological advancements.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Experience: Minimum of five years working experience
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in several programming languages
- Capable to lead projects or teams
- Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe.
- Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance.
DESIRED:
- FBI Program Experience: Prior exposure to FBI IT/Infrastructure programs and operations is highly desirable, as it will allow for a faster integration into the CJIS Division's mission and objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, System Management, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred
