Job Description:

As the Chief of Data, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of data strategy, governance, and execution. You will drive the creation and implementation of a comprehensive data vision that aligns with the organization's overall objectives, ensuring data is leveraged as a strategic asset across all business functions.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in leading large-scale data initiatives, managing data science, analytics, and engineering teams, and navigating the complexities of data management at an enterprise level. You will work closely with executive leadership and other department heads to ensure the successful implementation of data strategies that accelerate innovation, enhance decision-making, and provide actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Strategy & Leadership:

Develop and execute a comprehensive, company-wide data strategy to support both short- and long-term business goals.

Lead the Data Science, Engineering, and Analytics teams in delivering innovative solutions that drive business transformation.

Oversee data governance, quality, and compliance standards, ensuring consistency, security, and accuracy of all data assets.

Data Governance & Compliance:

Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.) and maintain robust data security practices.

Establish and maintain data stewardship practices across the organization.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

Partner with senior leadership to align the data strategy with key business functions, including marketing, finance, operations, and product development.

Work closely with the technology team to ensure that the data architecture is scalable, secure, and future-proof.

Analytics & Reporting:

Champion the use of data to drive strategic decision-making across all levels of the organization.

Promote a data-driven culture through training, support, and development of the data literacy of all employees.

Lead the development of data-driven insights and reports that provide actionable business intelligence.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve data processes and tools.

Lead the implementation of AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to enhance business operations.

Team Leadership & Development:

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary data team.

Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the team.

Required Qualifications:

Experience & Leadership:

Proven experience (10+ years) in a senior leadership role overseeing data management, analytics, and business intelligence teams, with at least 5 years in a Chief of Data, Chief Data Officer (CDO), or similar executive position.

Strong experience with data governance, data security, data integration, and compliance.

Expertise in leveraging big data and advanced analytics to support enterprise-level business decisions.

Technical Skills:

Deep understanding of data engineering, data architecture, and machine learning.

Proficiency in modern data tools, technologies, and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, SQL, Hadoop, Spark, Tableau, etc.).

Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and real-time data processing.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master’s or PhD is highly preferred.

Strategic Vision:

Ability to align data initiatives with overall business goals and drive company-wide adoption of data-driven decision-making.

Strong business acumen and ability to bridge technical and business perspectives to create high-impact strategies.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to manage and inspire diverse teams and lead complex projects to successful completion.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in cloud data solutions (e.g., AWS, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse).

Experience with AI/ML deployment and the ability to drive innovation in the AI/ML space.

Previous experience in enterprise software solutions and SaaS environments is a plus
