Tyto Athene is searching for a Vice President of Innovation Initiatives to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to make an outsized impact to the growth and brand of a dynamic mid-sized technology provider to the federal government as Tyto fulfills its vision of offering differentiated services that enable our customers assert information dominance in their respective missions.
The Vice President of Innovation Initiatives provides leadership for our innovation team in advancing our capabilities and shaping the future of federal technology solutions. This role leads a well-funded Innovation Program designed to enhance Tyto's market position, deliver impactful solutions to our clients, generate revenue growth, and create meaningful career paths for our team. You'll drive strategies that strengthen our brand, establish a branded lab function, build valuable partnerships, engage government mission customers and integrate cutting-edge technologies. Your leadership will help foster a culture of creativity and collaboration, making a tangible difference for our clients, our industry, and our people.
The Vice President of Innovation Initiatives provides technical direction and expertise in various areas, including leading the development of solution accelerators for novel, compelling and differentiated work products related to distributed data solutions for the mission of government, enterprise network modernization, digital modernization, defensive cyber operations (DCO), Zero Trust (ZT), IT Service Management, application modernization, post quantum, analytics and the exploitation of AI/ML to benefit our IT and Cyber Operational service offerings and to enhance information dominance on behalf of our customers.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Vision: Develop and implement Tyto's innovation roadmap aligned with future technologies and business goals particularly around transforming mission outcomes through the application of technologies such as distributed cloud and data platforms, AI, edge-based compute and PQC. Collaborate across the CTO and Growth functions to identify and curate Tyto's big bets, that underpin our brand promise and exemplifies 'what we want to be famous for'.
Lab Strategy: Provide leadership to build out the branded lab, ensure it meets the hosting, demonstration and collaboration needs for the Lab Concept
Marketing Support: Work with our marketing team to brand and market Tyto's innovation concept. Contribute to articles, case studies, and insights highlighting what makes us stand out in the federal market.
Innovation Program Leadership: Build out and lead the team, particularly in building out specialized mission data pods and embedding AI talent across all of our innovation pods.
Technology Scouting: Identify emerging technologies that drive innovation and business differentiation in the federal market.
Partnership Development: Foster external relationships with industry, academia, and government agencies for collaborative R&D.
Culture of Innovation: Promote an environment where team members feel comfortable trying new ideas and taking smart risks.
Operational Integration: Oversee the implementation of innovative technologies in current and future programs.
Manage a High-Performing Team: Provide clear goals and a supportive environment that encourages team growth and open communication. Foster accountability and celebrate achievements to build a strong, motivated team. We're looking for a self-starter who thrives on fresh ideas, and has a track record of establishing and building similar functions for federal customers. You should be as comfortable with emerging technologies as you are in conversations about the traffic and the weather. This could be the role for you if you have a knack for translating complex technical ideas into practical business solutions and helping others see the bigger picture. You will also have high emotional intelligence, are comfortable in evangelizing concepts and ideas both to internal and external stakeholders.
Required:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent, relevant experience will be considered.
* 10+ years in digital modernization, cyber, networking, or application modernization, with experience assessing complex client needs and leading solution design.
* Track record of driving successful innovation programs, ideally within the federal sector.
* Experience in building a portfolio of solution accelerators based on cloud, DevOps, data management or AI/ML yielding a stronger brand, additional TAM of over $250M, over $50M of TCV wins and new mission customer wins
* Demonstrated success in leading transformative initiatives that have driven measurable improvements or growth.
* Strong knowledge of federal requirements, regulations, and compliance needs, with experience integrating these into program design and execution.
* Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and clear communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Experience with emerging infrastructure, AI, cloud, or cybersecurity technologies, particularly as applied to federal or large enterprise projects.
* Proven ability to drive change in large, complex organizations.

* Active SECRET security clearance preferred, or the ability to secure DoD Security clearance.
