You will be the Research Engineer, supporting development and production efforts on aerospace products. Our team is responsible for performing hands-on production support, research, and product development, including the research, specification, planning, design, development, and testing of aerospace products.

What You Will Be Doing
As the Research Engineer, you will be responsible for performing hands-on production support, research, and product development, including material property testing, fabrication, and hardware integration. You will work on research and product development projects that encompass multiple engineering disciplines, including electrical and mechanical engineering, and apply mechanical engineering principles to real-world problems in a dynamic and supportive environment.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must have the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
Basic Qualifications:
• Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Degree or related education, or equivalent experience
• Coursework or experience in mechanical design and laboratory practices
• Experience with NI Labview or equivalent
• Effective technical writing skills for development of test reports and procedures.
Desired Skills:
• Environmental test experience in aerospace environments, their derivation and application in a test lab setting.
• Vibrational test experience
• Ability to conduct dynamic and climatic tests in accordance with approved procedures, safety standards, and organizational policy and ensure proper equipment calibration.
• Instrument test knowledge with thermocouples and ability to conduct tests by operating temperature/humidity chambers to specified conditions.
• Instrument test knowledge with accelerometers and ability to conduct tests by operating vibration equipment to specified levels.
• Ability to interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customers through effective communication and writing skills.
• Knowledge of basic electronics theory and high degree of mechanical aptitude.
• An understanding of the fundamental concepts of structural dynamics, random vibration theory, and digital signal analysis
• Familiarity with accelerometer, thermocouple, and strain gage instrumentation
• Ability to set up and run vibration test equipment and temperature/humidity chambers
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and other basic lab equipment
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
