Opportunity:

Virtual Service Operations is looking for a highly skilled Senior AWS Architect in Crystal City, VA to join our team on a high-impact cloud initiative. In this role, you will design and implement secure, scalable, and compliant AWS landing zones tailored to federal requirements. This position requires a strategic thinker with deep cloud expertise and a strong understanding of government compliance frameworks. The role is based in Reston, VA and requires an active TS/SCI clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize AWS landing zones to support government cloud strategies.
• Develop scalable and secure architectures aligned with FedRAMP, NIST, and other compliance frameworks.
• Lead architecture planning for security, IAM, networking, and data management.
• Perform cloud risk assessments and drive mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to gather requirements and deploy solutions.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior architects and engineers.
• Stay updated with AWS advancements and evolving federal cloud policies.

Requirements

• 7-9 years of experience in cloud architecture, with a strong AWS focus.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Must be located in Northern Virginia.
• Must be able to work 100% onsite in Crystal City, VA.
• Deep expertise in AWS services: EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, Control Tower.
• Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
• Skilled in scripting languages: Python, Bash.
• Familiarity with compliance standards such as FedRAMP and NIST.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional (preferred).
