Design Engineer

Position requires US Citizenship! While no clearance is needed for this role having an active Secret clearance is preferred. MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN CLEARANCE IF ONE IS NOT CURRENTLY HELD!

We're looking for an experienced Design Engineer with front-end experience who stays on top of the latest design trends and obsesses over the details. You have a sharp eye for visual polish and a passion for crafting beautiful, intuitive interfaces. Mastery of Figma, HTML, CSS, and TypeScript is essential.

Role Responsibilities
- Evolve, extend, and document our Design System, including component libraries, style guides, and design checklists
- Translate Design Tokens into Figma, and create components from initial concept to shipped React code
- Design and build user-friendly application flows and visually engaging marketing pages
- Write clean, responsive CSS that works across devices and supported browsers
- Optimize components for performance (FCP, LCP) and cross-browser compatibility
- Anticipate edge cases in UI flows and component logic
- Conduct visual regression testing using Storybook
- Mentor engineers on UI/UX best practices and design consistency

Required Skills:

Design Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of modern design principles and systems
- Experience with Figma and other design tools
- Development of design systems and tokens
- Strong understanding of color palettes, typography, iconography, spacing, and theming
- Expertise in responsive design and adaptive layouts
- User experience (UX) and interaction design proficiency

Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, and TypeScript
- Proficiency with Tailwind CSS
- Strong CSS fundamentals (Box Model, Flexbox, Grid, Container queries)
- Understanding of CSS performance optimization
- Experience with React/Next.js frameworks
- Server-side rendering (SSR) implementation
- React Error boundaries and suspense
- Performance optimization strategies
- State management solutions

Testing & Quality Assurance
- Experience with Storybook and visual testing tools
- Knowledge of Core Web Vitals optimization
- WCAG compliance and accessibility expertise
- Visual regression testing
- Cross-browser/platform compatibility testing
- Integration with CI/CD pipelines
