Amentum is seeking a highly skilled and motivated SeniorTest Engineer to join our one-of-a-kind underwater launch test facility in Crane, IN. The Lead Test Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of full-scale submerged platform weapons testing. This testing will support establishing underwater launch phenomenology of a weapon system of strategic importance. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians in ensuring that our testing and data meets the highest standards for rigor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in military or defense systems testing, leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering the highest quality to the war fighter. The successful candidate will have a desire to work in a hands-on and collaborative environment. This position requires initiative, teamwork, and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Performance of this position requires working outdoors in various environments. U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOD Secret Security Clearance required

Bachelors degree in a STEM related Degree
5 Years experience leading DoD testing or equivalent commercial experience
10 Years experience with instrumentation and data collection
NI ecosystem experience
MatLab experience
Solid Modeling experience
Electrical troubleshooting and debugging experience
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD SECRET clearance
Experience with hydraulics or pneumatics is a plus
Essential Functions for Position
Physical Requirements: May include lifting of weight up to forty (40) pounds as necessary.
Work Environment: Can involve inside or outside work depending on the task. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Outside work may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates. Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management.
Equipment and Machines : Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required.
Attendance: Normal hours are Monday - Friday between 6:00am to 4:00pm. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.
Other Essential Functions: Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management, and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel (up to 10%) to and from customer locations and test locations (government and vendor) may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Manage Testing Team: Lead a team of engineers and technicians in the creation of test capabilities for defining on Interface Control Drawings.
- Test Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and strategies for unit under test hardware. Understand piece wise continuum test plan of our test customer to ensure each test maximizes potential.
- Track test trends and communicate those trends to senior leadership as opportunities for additional testing. Providing solutions for additional test capabilities as appropriate
- Test Execution: Coordinate, schedule, and manage testing activities to ensure timely delivery of underwater tests.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, design engineering team and other stakeholders to understand the test requirements and provide feedback.
- Test hardware design: Design or influence design of additional test unique hardware.
- Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Reporting: Generate regular testing progress reports, including defect status, testing coverage, and risk analysis for key stakeholders.
