The Opportunity:

As the Lab Manager for our Archon Lab, you will report directly to the SNC Technical Director, playing a pivotal role in the strategic planning, development, and maintenance of our cutting-edge lab infrastructure. Your work will ensure that our lab environment not only meets but anticipates the demands of our engineering, development, testing, and quality assurance teams. You will be at the forefront of integrating advanced technologies to drive innovation, performance, and security.

**This position offers a Hybrid Work Schedule.**

Responsibilities:

Lab Environment Management:
  • Design and Implementation: Maintain and optimize a fully operational lab environment that's future-proof, incorporating both on-premises and cloud-based solutions. This includes defining specifications for hardware such as servers, workstations, and storage solutions, and software for development and testing environments.
  • Tool Integration: Ensure the lab tools are maintained to include tools like CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), version control systems (e.g., Git), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and virtual machines for multi-OS support.
  • Infrastructure Design and Maintenance:
  • System Architecture: Design scalable, high-availability architectures using Linux distributions (Ubuntu, RHEL) for their robustness and Microsoft technologies for enterprise integration, focusing on server clustering, load balancing, and virtualization with tools like VMware.
  • Networking: Oversee the setup and maintenance of network infrastructure, including:
  • Switch Configuration: Implement VLANs for network segmentation using protocols like VTP, STP for loop prevention.
  • Routing: Configure dynamic routing protocols like OSPF or BGP for lab subnets.
  • VPN Setup: Manage VPN solutions for secure remote access, ensuring encryption and authentication standards are met (e.g., using IPsec VPN's and WireGuard).


Security and Compliance:
  • Security Frameworks: Deploy and manage security solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS), and SIEM systems for real-time threat monitoring.
  • Compliance: Ensure the lab adheres to standards like NIST, ISO 27001, or specific client requirements, conducting regular compliance checks and penetration testing in partnership with CACI Enterprise Security Operations.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
  • Monitoring Tools: Use tools like Nagios, Zabbix, and Splunk for comprehensive system and network monitoring, setting up alerts for performance degradation.
  • Optimization: Regular performance tuning of databases (e.g., SQL, MySQL, MariaDB), application servers, and network paths to optimize throughput and reduce latency.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with Engineering and Software Development teams to translate their technical needs into lab capabilities or specific test environments are available.
  • Reporting: Provide detailed technical reports and dashboards to management, highlighting system health, project timelines, and strategic alignment.
  • Asset Management: Assist CACI Asset Management teams to ensure all lab environment assets are accounted for during audit events.


Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are beneficial.
  • Department of Defense Secret clearance required
  • Minimum of 10 years managing environments at scale, with a focus on production-grade systems.
  • Deep expertise in OS administration, especially in Linux environments, with knowledge of kernel tuning and security hardening.
  • Proficient in Microsoft stack, including Active Directory, Group Policy management, and high security configurations (e.g. DISA STIG's).
  • Networking prowess with hands-on experience in network design, including advanced routing, switching, and security configurations.
  • Problem Solving: Capable of troubleshooting complex systems
  • Must have VMWare experience

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
$102,900 - $216,200
