Koniag Information Technology Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Senior FOIA Analyst with a Secret Clearance to support KITS and our government customer in Washington, DC.

The Senior FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) Analyst is responsible for overseeing and managing the administration and processing of FOIA requests and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This position involves handling complex and sensitive cases, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and promoting transparency while safeguarding classified and confidential information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review, assess, and process incoming FOIA requests to ensure compliance with FOIA regulations.
  • Conduct thorough research and analyze requested records for exemptions and disclosures.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather responsive documents, clarify scope, and address potential challenges.
  • Apply legal principles and policies to determine the applicability of FOIA exemptions and redact sensitive information as necessary.
  • Communicate with requesters to clarify needs, provide status updates, and address concerns.
  • Develop and implement best practices for FOIA processing and tracking to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare reports on FOIA activities, including metrics, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior analysts and other team members on FOIA processes and regulations.
  • Stay updated on FOIA-related legislation, policies, and industry standards to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel on complex FOIA requests and disputes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in [Law, Public Administration, Political Science, or Related Field]. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in FOIA processing and analysis, with expertise in handling complex cases.
  • Strong knowledge of FOIA laws, regulations, and exemptions.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in managing sensitive and classified information.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in FOIA tracking and redaction software/tools is a plus.
