General program information and/or position overview. The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently pursuing a new opportunity that has openings for a Data Management Engineer to work in Fayetteville, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Enterprise Development, Application, and Training (EDAT) mission. In this mission we are focused on providing innovative, data-driven solutions and enterprise architecture enhancements to enable seamless operations across USSOCOM's global network. The program emphasizes rapid development and deployment of technologies to enhance the mobility and readiness of Special Operations Forces (SOF) in both combat and non-combat scenarios. Key tasks include program management, application development, training support, and technology integration to maintain USSOCOM's operational edge. The EDAT program underscores agility and adaptability, ensuring SOF professionals have access to the information and tools they need to meet evolving mission requirements.

Primary Responsibilities.
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable data management solutions to support storage, retrieval, processing, and analysis of large datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including data analysts, scientists, and software developers—to define and prioritize data management requirements.
  • Ensure data integrity, quality, and consistency across data sources and systems, and enforce best practices for metadata and documentation.
  • Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with DoD regulations, including RMF, NIST 800-53, and DISA STIG.
  • Architect and manage data storage solutions, including relational databases, data lakes, and cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Support analytics and reporting by ensuring datasets are properly formatted, validated, and accessible to authorized users.
  • Work with analysts and data scientists to support the development of data-driven solutions, including predictive models, dashboards, and machine learning pipelines.
  • Provide technical support and training on data management tools and technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, ETL tools, and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in data management, cloud storage, big data, and artificial intelligence and apply innovations to improve performance and mission outcomes.
  • Support initiatives for data mining, advanced analytics, and visualization that drive operational insights and decision support for the EDAT program.
     

Basic Qualifications.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with 4-8 years of prior relevant experience, or a MS degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience. 12 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must possess at least a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Experience designing and implementing secure data storage and integration solutions.
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, AWS S3, Azure Data Lake).
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance standards, particularly in DoD or classified environments.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, and working with structured and unstructured data sources.

Preferred Qualifications.
  • MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting DoD programs, particularly within USSOCOM or similar operational environments.
  • Knowledge of RMF, NIST 800-53, and DoD data lifecycle management practices.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Apache NiFi, Talend, Informatica, or similar ETL platforms.
  • Experience working in Agile or DevSecOps environments with CI/CD integration.
  • Background in developing data pipelines for use in AI/ML workloads or real-time analytics.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Pay Range: Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
