SMX is seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented System Engineer (SME) to support the development and sustainment of robust, high-performance network infrastructures for a Federal Law Enforcement Agency. This position demands deep expertise in network design, routing protocols, and perimeter security, along with the ability to lead troubleshooting efforts and drive continuous improvement. The proposed salary for this position is:
$114,700 - $191,100 USD

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Apply advanced knowledge of TCP/IP routing and switching principles to design and deploy scalable network solutions.
- Configure, maintain, and upgrade LAN/WAN architectures and related topologies.
- Perform in-depth root cause analysis and multi-level troubleshooting of complex network issues.
- Install and configure network hardware (routers, switches) and manage physical infrastructure, including wiring and documentation.
- Administer Cisco and other networking equipment, including consumer-grade components.
- Monitor network performance using standard management and packet analysis tools.
- Implement and manage perimeter security and firewall configurations.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements for increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Required Skills / Experience:
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) - Enterprise Infrastructure.
- 2-5 years of experience in firewall configuration and load balancing.
- Expert-level understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, and VPN design.
- Deep knowledge of BGP and EIGRP routing protocols.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network connectivity issues.
- Experience working in Agile environments including Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe methodologies.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Active Top-Secret Clearance
Desired Skills / Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
