Job Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer position plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining safety-critical electrical systems and components to be used in Electronic Safe and Arm Devices (ESAD) and Ignition Safety Devices (ISD). As a Senior level electrical engineer position, ownership of larger projects and leadership of teams will be expected. This key player will combine direct, hands-on technical expertise, leadership, and problem-solving skills to design, test, implement, and maintain safety-critical electrical systems.

Essential Functions
• Design, develop and test safety-critical electrical systems, to include ESADs and ISDs.
• Act as the lead engineer for design, protype fabrication, and manufacturing.
• Works with avionics, embedded systems (microcontrollers, FPGAs, Single Board Computers etc…), and Radio Frequency (RF) links. Supports Flight Test operations, as needed.
• Develop and maintain electrical control systems, including wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Analyze and interpret technical data, such as specifications, blueprints, and schematics, to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Thorough understanding of US Military Standards such as MIL-STD-1316/1901 and familiarity with environmental testing as specified in MIL-STD-331 and MIL-STD-464.
• Present design and technical data to Government Safety Boards for approval.
• Collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams of other engineers, technicians, and clients to identify and resolve technical issues and improve system performance.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies
• Thorough understanding of MIL-STD-1316/1901 and familiarity with environmental testing captured in MIL-STD-331.
• Knowledge of common industry protocols (LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB, MIPI).
• Proficient in circuit design with knowledge of embedded microcontrollers, video image processing, battery technology, motor controllers, and power distribution.
• Knowledge of electrical design software for schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium (Preferred), Eagle PCB, Autodesk Fusion360, KICAD, etc...).
• Knowledge of electrical simulation tools such as LTspice.
• Knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) simulation tools such as ANSYS HFSS or CST Microwave Studio is beneficial.
• Familiarity with gas and battery-powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and associated avionics and electronics such as IMUs, AHRS, BLDC motors, etc...
• Knowledge of embedded processors such as ARM, and embedded programming skills therein with C/C++.
• Test and Debug abilities with common lab equipment including DMMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, etc...
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good leadership skills including managing a team through software such as Jira.
• Ability to problem solve at a high level and carry out a vision by leading a team into appropriate technical solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education / Certifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Experience
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
• 5+ years of experience in the design and development of safety-critical electronic systems.

Security Clearance
• Ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
