Vistra has an immediate opening for a Senior Researcher to support Department of Defense clients. The Senior Researcher will demonstrate expert understanding of social science disciplines, research methodology, and statistics to investigate, analyze, and evaluate policies, programs, and procedures that relate to prevention of harmful behaviors in the military. This position develops solutions to a variety of problems of high scope and complexity.

The Senior Researcher will demonstrate expert understanding of social science disciplines, research methodology, and statistics to investigate, analyze, and evaluate policies, programs, and procedures that relate to prevention of harmful behaviors in the military. This position develops solutions to a variety of problems of high scope and complexity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and inform social science, public health, or workplace climate research (e.g., program evaluation, climate surveys)
- Conduct literature reviews, assessing research quality and synthesize findings and recommendations
- Apply scientific research/data science methods and techniques to assist in the development of focused analytics and assessments
- Interpret statistical findings and present data and research results to non-technical audiences
- Provide clear verbal and written communications to a variety of stakeholders in alignment with department style expectations
- Draft and present information papers on a variety of topics
- Inform and analyze quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
- Review or guide activities of more junior employees
- Up to 25% travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations
Requirements
- Doctoral degree (complete or ABD) and 3+ years directly related experience in the DoD, VA, or other Federal agency
- Previous experience conducting social science, public health, or workplace climate assessments, evaluations, or research
- In depth familiarity and experience conducting literature reviews and assessing research methods, findings, outcomes, and recommendations
- Ability to interpret statistical findings and present data and research results to non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills
- Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion policies and programs, preferably in a military setting preferred
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently to ensure high fidelity of research activities and their applicability in the military context
- Must have a Secret clearance
