The position is responsible for activities related to system administration. The Tier III System Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of server systems. This position implements operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system while maintaining service delivery in a production environment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

Installs, configures, and operates servers supporting Unified Collaboration (UC) services.
Coordinates with the Regional Network Enterprise Center (R-NEC) for domain services.
Reviews ACAS scans and implements IAVA patches required to mitigate vulnerabilities.
Provides administration for local systems including physical, virtual and Storage Area Network (SAN).
Administers ~15 servers in a secure, virtualized environment with 24/7 and worldwide availability.
Manages the configuration and resource allocation for all virtual machine (VM) environments using allotted SANs, following the guidance provided by the configuration manager to ensure optimal performance and continuous availability for all GITOC UC systems in an operational or staging environment.
Manages VM templates to capture configurations of critical UC systems and ensure system restoral operations are documented and tested based on the schedule provided by GITOC policy.
Performs system administration, monitoring, and reporting of system reliability, availability, maintainability, capacity, and performance tuning for UCs across the enterprise to maximize system performance.
Documents and resolves system interoperability issues.
Coordinates Authorized Service Interruptions prior to scheduling and implementing SA maintenance activities.
Prepares and delivers a system optimization report that addresses performance, system latency, utilization, system availability and optimization settings IAW DI-MISC-80508.
Maintains and updates a hardware/software list and System Architecture Diagrams that addresses the physical layout, conceptual architecture, and data flow IAW DI-MGMT-81644.
Assists with SA planning.
Prepares and delivers a SA Planning Report that addresses strategies, actions, resources, constraints, goals and measurements IAW DI- MISC-80508.
Installs software and relocates UC/IT equipment, e.g., servers, SAN, storage devices, and ensure performance through diagnostic tools.
Performs troubleshooting, fixes, customizations, maintenance, upgrades, and performance monitoring to the approved software releases; plans and executes the installation of upgrades.
Coordinates actions with all stakeholders.
Performs system analysis, design, implementation, sustainment, and retirement activities.
Participates in workgroups and meetings.
Develops recovery strategies for the mission and business applications housed on the servers.
Reviews the systems, security, and application event logs to ensure backups are completed daily.
Verifies that storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures are tested and functioning correctly IAW approved test plans.
Coordinates work with the ISSO, cohorts and team leads.
Restores physical and virtual servers and ensures the systems and mission applications are working.
Applies IAVA security and software patches, implement security regulations, and verifies compliance with security policies IAW DA and organizational policies, regulations, and guidance, as designated by the Government IAW DI-MISC-80508.
Updates Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAM) and IAVA tracking in coordination with the ISSO.
Performs access management to control logins and grant/modify privileges.
During system outages, follows established escalation procedures (notification and troubleshooting) for restoration of services.
Provides input for the documentation and maintenance of IT business processes and SA SOPs.
Provides input for the development/updates to RMF accreditation documentation as it relates to SA.
Follows ITIL V4 Framework, RMF, STIG, Army Cyber Security regulations, AMC UC and GITOC operating procedures, and industry best practices.
Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

BS or MS degree or equivalent experience with five (5) years or more demonstrated experience in information technology (IT) and/or system administration.
Information assurance (IA) certification requirements for an IAT Level II position per DoD 8570.01-M (Security+, Computing Environment – see below)One of the following: MCSA-Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator or VCP-DCV VMware Certified Professional or MCSE-Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
Current SECRET Security Clearance.
