Job Overview
The Senior UAS Embedded Systems Engineer will be responsible for identifying, developing, demonstrating, and optimizing embedded software and hardware solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to continually improve the AEVEX family of multi-rotor UAS platforms and associated equipment, driving additional functionality and maturity into the common family system architecture.
Essential Functions
• Architect, design, and develop embedded systems, including firmware and hardware integration.
• Design and debug hardware interfaces such as MAVLink, UART, SPI, I2C, and GPIO.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on system design and bring-up.
• Optimize system performance, power consumption, and memory utilization.
• Conduct code reviews, system testing, and debugging using tools like JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Work with RTOS, Linux, or bare-metal systems, depending on project requirements.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for designs and implementations.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies
• Strong proficiency in hardware debugging and embedded development tools.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and assembly language programming.
• Solid understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and multitasking concepts.
• Knowledge of signal processing, control systems, or sensor integration is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices in embedded systems.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and version control (Git).
Education / Certifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
• 10+ years of experience in embedded systems development.
• Experience with microcontrollers, SoCs, and embedded Linux environments.
• Experience with communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet.
• Experience with FPGA programming and VHDL/Verilog.
• Experience with cloud-connected IoT devices and embedded AI/ML applications.
