FedWriters is building a team to support NAVSEA's congressional engagement and public affairs operations at the Washington Navy Yard. As a Congressional Affairs Analyst, you will research and assess congressional actions to identify areas of significant interest while supporting the development and implementation of proactive legislative engagement strategies across NAVSEA's priority areas.

Work Schedule and Location:

Responsibilities
- Provides continuous research and assessment of congressional actions, reports, and sensitive issues to identify areas of significant interest and develop courses of action to address them effectively.
- Supports the development and implementation of a proactive congressional engagement strategy across NAVSEA priority areas.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications;
- Minimum four (4) years of experience analyzing and writing on federal congressional actions
- Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science
- Secret level security clearance is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of the enactment process for defense authorization and appropriation legislation
- Working knowledge of the Navy's PPBE process
- Experience in reviewing and analyzing defense legislation for potential impacts to Navy programs and initiatives
- Experience in producing written documents for senior officials including briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers and correspondence
- Five (5) years of experience in defense acquisition
- Experience with Department of Defense programs, especially Navy and NAVSEA
- Working knowledge of NAVSEA, Congress, the Navy and Department of Defense
