Team Submarine's Submarine Program Offices are responsible for:
The acquisition of COLUMBIA Class Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the class. The program is a major defense acquisition program and is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
The SSN(X) Office is responsible for the acquisition and design of the future fast attack submarine and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the future submarine. The future Attack Submarine will be designed to retain multi-mission capability and sustained combat presence in denied waters with a focus on greater speed, stealth, and horizontal payloads and salvo rates.
NAVSEA 05Z, part of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), focuses on Marine Engineering, providing the expertise and technical authority for the design, building, maintenance, repair, modernization, certification, and disposal of the Navy's ships, submarines, and associated warfare systems.
Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their Team Submarine contract supporting the acquisition of submarines. The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.

In this role, you wil:
- Provide a structured, holistic engineering approach to Department of Navy advanced battery mission needs
- Management of efforts across five objectives:
- Battery Certification
- Cost Avoidance and Standardization
- Platform Integration and Hazard Mitigation
- Battery Specifications and Standards
- Battery Analytics
- Advise on programmatic efforts associated with the following:
- Development of technology that supports criteria based shipboard certification and associated risk factor analysis
- Development of testing, storage, and charging requirements to allow for safe deployment in current and future weapon systems
- Assessment and production of solutions to current Navy battery needs, including shipboard integration and accelerating operational capability
- Investment in long term sustainment and management of battery deployment
- Advise on program requirements including the risk management plan, budget plan and execution strategies, and assess the technical, schedule, and cost risk to the program
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate efforts across multiple Warfare Centers and DoD Components in the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation of lithium batteries and supporting equipment
- Maintain and improve detailed Integrated Master Schedule using MS Project, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Monitor program progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and present regular program status reports to Government Program Manager and senior management.
- Assist the Government Program Manager in technical evaluation of in-progress and proposed Engineering efforts.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Active Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in program management, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects.
- Experience with maintaining schedule using Mirosoft Project.
- Experience with Navy energy storage systems, such as battery and/or electro-chemical power systems, Ship and Submarine Main Storage Batteries, and/or Lithium Battery Safety
- 10% travel required
Preferred:
- MS Project certification
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering process
- PMP or other relevant certifications are a plus
