Position Title: Telecommunications Engineer Specialist Senior
Work Location: Detroit Arsenal, Warren, MI
Salary Range: $55,000-$60,000
Job Summary
KaiHonua, LLC has an immediate opening for a Telecommunications Engineer Specialist Senior to join our rapidly growing team. The candidate will design or configure voice, video, and data communications systems. Supervise installation and post-installation service and maintenance
Essential Responsibilities and Duties (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:
* Install and configure network elements, telephony support infrastructure and VoIP instruments, and provide premise wiring support services and on-site infrastructure installation support services.
* Maintain all network and telephony infrastructure equipment. This support includes all communications equipment that services end user facilities. The support also includes all distribution cable and terminals or cross-connects inside the Area Distributions Node (ADN), Main Communication Nodes (MCN), and the end user building (EUB).
* Perform work IAW industry standards to include American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)/Electronics Industry Alliance (EIA) Building Telecommunications Wiring Standards, National Electrical Code, and IEEE 802.3 and 802.5.
* Install, troubleshoot, move, remove, replace or repair the affected cable, infrastructure, or equipment in conjunction with the request or incident. Service requests and incident timelines for completion vary; however, the Contractor shall conduct the repair or installation IAW OSHA and industry standards.
* Enter all service requests and incidents into the work order system. The Contractor shall close each completed incident or service request in the work order system within one business day.
* Configure, install, troubleshoot, repair and replace network switch elements in end user facilities.
* Program, install, troubleshoot, repair and replace VoIP instruments.
* Install telephone termination blocks, equipment and cross-connects.
* Install POTS phones, wall phones, mine phones and other telephony related support equipment.
* Install various types of cable and wire (i.e., CAT-6, T1, fiber optic) and peripheral devices to support NIPRNET infrastructure.
* Create network "drops" as necessary to facilitate telephone, VoIP, or computer system connection.
* Perform secure cable drop installations for SIPRNet including small-scale Protected Distribution Systems (PDS) moves, adds, changes, and installations for EMT or HOLOCOM type PDS systems.
* Connect and test appropriate equipment connected as a result of cable installation.
* Maintain and use Government provided network, telephony and VoIP test equipment.
* Test all telephony systems to ensure dial tone at the work area outlet. Troubleshoot network elements to ensure fully capable operation; troubleshoot VoIP to ensure capability from the network switch to the work area outlet.
* Maintain all network security measures and promote IT and network security control measures, practices, and techniques.
* Duties would include running conduit in buildings along the wall and above ceilings.
* Running Copper and Fiber Optic cable in buildings above ceilings and down walls, inside and outside of conduit.
* Terminating Copper and Fiber Optic cable to patch panels and connectors.
* Must be able to distinguish wire colors.
* Capable of following instructions from the supervisor.
* Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Certifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline preferred or have equivalent experience
* Five to 7 years of experience of demonstrated/practical hands-on experience
* CEH or CFR or Cloud+ or GICSP or SSCP or Security+ or GSEC
Abilities
* Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
* Capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic manner
* Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
* Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision
* Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than reactive by nature
* Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals
