Aegis Aerospace is seeking a skilled Mission & Fault Management Integration Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.

The Period of Performance (POP) is expected to be through March 2026. This is an onsite role initially with a 9x80 (9,9,9,9,8- 1st week, 9,9,9,9 off Friday-2nd week) work schedule. After two weeks role may become hybrid with two days onsite per week.

Salary range for this role is expected to be $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year.

Overview
Aegis Aerospace, in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, is seeking a mission and fault management integration engineer to support the Mars Ascent Vehicle Integrated System (MAVIS) program. This role will be responsible for developing fault management strategies, performing failure analysis, and ensuring system-level fault protection for a critical deep-space mission.

As a mission and fault management integration engineer, you will develop system-wide failure modes and effects analyses (FMEA), fault tree analyses (FTA), and related reliability assessments. You will collaborate with avionics and flight software teams to ensure fault protection measures align with mission requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the integrated system-level failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA), fault tree analysis (FTA), and goal tree analysis using a combination of classical and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approaches
  • Create and maintain the fault protection design document (FPDD) and the monitored condition list for MAVIS systems
  • Develop and implement fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) strategies for vehicle health management
  • Collaborate with avionics and flight software teams to integrate fault management with onboard systems
  • Utilize SysML and MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody to support fault modeling and analysis
  • Ensure traceability between fault management requirements, design implementations, and verification activities

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Must presently be a US Citizen
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or related field from an accredited college
  • Experience in vehicle health management and fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR)
  • Knowledge of avionics and flight software fault management strategies
  • Proficiency in failure analysis techniques, including FMEA, FMECA, and FTA
  • Ability to read SysML models and work with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field from an accredited college
  • Experience developing fault management strategies for space systems, launch vehicles, or planetary exploration missions
  • Understanding of NASA and DoD fault management standards and best practices
  • Prior experience supporting Mars architecture programs, deep-space missions, or other high-reliability aerospace systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat, with the ability to effectively utilize these tools for documentation, communication, and collaboration
