Enterprise Data Engineer

Transform technology into opportunity as a Systems Administrator with GDIT. A career in enterprise IT means connecting and enhancing the systems that matter most. At GDIT you'll be at the forefront of innovation and play a meaningful part in improving how agencies operate.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • The Enterprise Data Engineer is a critical role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data systems that directly support Combatant Command (CCMD) processes across multiple Joint Directorates (JDIRs), analytics, visualizations, and data-driven decision-making. Their primary focus is on ensuring the integrity, security, and scalability of the organization's data assets.

Data Architecture: Design and implement data architectures that meet CCMD requirements, including data warehousing, data lakes, and data pipelines.
  • Enterprise Data Model: Design, implement, and continuously improve an enterprise-wide data model. It defines the structure, relationships, and constraints of data and business processes, including entities, attributes, metadata, and data types. Data models help ensure data consistency, reduce data redundancy, and improve data integrity, making it easier to design, implement, and manage databases and improve CCMD and JDIR processes with data.
  • Data Integration: Develop and maintain data integration processes, including data ingestion, transformation, and loading, to ensure seamless data flow across systems.
  • Data Storage: Design and implement data storage solutions, such as relational databases, NoSQL databases, and cloud-based storage, to ensure data is properly stored and managed.
  • Data Security and Classification: Ensure data security and compliance by implementing data encryption, access controls, and data governance policies. This also includes moving and maintaining data at multiple classification levels on multiple networks (e.g. IL2, IL5, and IL6).
  • Data Quality: Develop and implement continuous data quality processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Scalability and Performance: Optimize data systems for scalability and performance, ensuring they can handle large volumes of data and support business growth.
