Senior Manager - PP&C

KBR is looking for a self-driven finance leader to head our Program Planning and Control (PP&C) group as a Senior Manager. This position operates within a "matrix" organizational structure, reporting functionally to the Business Unit CFO and operationally to the Head of Operations for the Product Technology & Solutions division.

Job Summary

The Senior Manager of PP&C will be responsible for overseeing project controls, profit and loss (P&L), and cash flow management for a key division within the Defense & Technology Solutions Business Unit. This role involves reporting to and advising finance and operations leadership on pertinent issues.

The ideal candidate will have a strong finance background, enabling them to provide valuable insights and a strategic vision for a products based enterprise. Prior experience with Government contracts a must. They will be skilled in implementing financial strategies that align with the organization's long-term goals and will play a vital role in cross-functional collaboration, particularly with the business development and pricing teams. Regular engagement with key customers to assess performance, review annual plans, and discuss contract terms will also be a crucial aspect of this position.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering a strong, disciplined SOX-compliant environment, applying fundamental accounting principles to forecasting and project controls to ensure accurate reporting of project costs, revenue, profit, backlog, and cash flows.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the delivery of functional objectives, providing leadership and direction to managers and professional staff.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of recurring customer reports and contract deliverables containing financial information.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of the divisional budget and forecast in close coordination with the divisional operations and functional teams.
  • Review and support development of customer proposals from a finance perspective.
  • Assist in negotiation of change orders with the customer in coordination with the Contracts team.
  • Proactively track, manage, and report key issues from identification to resolution to both finance and operations leadership.
  • Develop insightful analysis and commentary on variances and trends for both customer and internal reporting, identifying "what" has caused a variance and "why" it occurred in coordination with operations and functional teams.
  • Participate in the development of project controls strategy, actively collaborating with relevant functions to improve, implement, and execute global processes and procedures in estimating, project risk control, cost control, and scheduling.
  • Lead the team by engaging in employee development, training, and succession planning. Identify opportunities and spearhead initiatives to streamline employee workload, including through automation.
  • Oversee the performance of multiple related disciplines within the PP&C function.


Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in finance or project controls, with 4 years in management.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to locations within the US.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with Costpoint, Excel, COBRA, and EPM.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to design and maintain effective, simple, repeatable, and dependable business processes.
  • Ability to work closely with BU and functional leadership teams to promote strong business performance and achieve business goals.


Preferred Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in finance or project controls, with 4 years in management.
  • Accounting Certification (CPA, CA, or equivalent).
  • Previous public accounting experience.
  • Preferred Location: Huntsville, AL, Washinton DC, Maryland, Virgina but flexible


Basic Compensation:

$192,255 - $288,330

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
