Support and maintain the Arnold AFB Hazardous and Toxic Waste Management Program in accordance with federal and AF requirements. The program includes managing the accumulation, storage, transport, and disposal of hazardous waste, regulated waste, and hazardous materials generated at Arnold AFB.

Responsibilities

  • Managing 90-day Accumulation Points
  • Ensuring compliance with all state and federal HW regulations as well as Arnold AFB's RCRA permit
  • Storing waste drums in appropriate bays
  • Ensuring daily housekeeping tasks are completed at the Treatment, Storage, & Disposal Facility
  • Ensuring drums are properly labeled to meet RCRA standards
  • Coordinating pick-up of waste drums at various locations on base
  • Scheduling and coordinating shipments of hazardous waste through DLA-DS
  • Maintaining records including HW manifests, Waste Identification Forms, and Lab analyses
  • Performing sampling of waste drums and coordinating with lab personnel to properly identify drum contents
  • Determining proper classification of wastes and creating waste profiles prior to shipment
  • Serves as the ESOH-MIS SAAR POC for hazardous materials/waste management
  • Coordinating all waste shipments for Globally Separated Units (White Oak and Moffett Field); occasional travel to GSUs may be required
  • Preparing technical reports for support on annual waste reports, data calls, and PCB reports
  • Assisting in regulatory inspections as well as weekly AF inspections
  • Responding to hazardous spills and releases reported by the Ops Center
  • Ordering waste containers such as drums, poly totes, rolloff boxes, etc as needed/requested

Qualifications

  • US. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal Regulations regarding hazardous and toxic wastes (e.g. RCRA & TSCA)

Desired Qualifications:
  • HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification
  • HAZMAT Ground Shipper Certification
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager credential
