Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Contract Specialist to support our customer's contracting efforts. In this role, you will work closely with the Contracting Officer to plan and execute acquisitions across a diverse range of products and services, ensuring compliance with government regulations and best practices.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in contract management, a deep understanding of acquisition processes, and a strong ability to navigate complex contractual landscapes. Success in this role requires exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Skills / Experience Required
Contract Specialist Skills/Experience needed:
* Current and active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
* Minimum 10 years of relevant DoD experience with hands-on expertise across various defense contract types
* Extensive cradle-to-grave contract support experience
* Conducting market research and preparing pre- and post-award solicitation documentation
* Reviewing proposals for regulatory compliance, supporting source selection, and evaluating contract or engineering change proposals
* Mastery of FAR and DFAR requirements with experience working with DCAA and DCMA to ensure compliance
* Expertise in cost/price evaluation, weighted guideline development, contract pricing analysis, and strategic negotiation support
* Strong collaboration with stakeholders to develop acquisition strategies, determine contract methods, and optimize contract structures
* Experience in contract administration, maintaining meticulous records, ensuring compliance, and managing contract modifications
* Supporting Contracting Officers in monitoring performance, enforcing contract terms, and addressing stakeholder concerns
* Strong analytical skills with expertise in navigating complex contracts, providing guidance, and ensuring full compliance
* Exceptional document writing, communication, and presentation skills with a proven ability to convey complex concepts to leadership and stakeholders
* Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration and innovation among team members and senior leadership
* Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating challenges
Education / Certifications
* Contract Specialist Education/Certifications needed:
* Bachelor's degree, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
* Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification in Contracting or equivalent industry certification (e.g., Certified Federal Contract Managerâ¢)
