Mechanical Technicians - Structures Test (LEVELS 1 - 3) to support our Environmental & Specialty Test department (E&ST). As a member of the E&ST department you’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside stress analysts, design engineers, and other support engineers to test our products to their design limits. This position will serve on-site at Space Park Campus in Redondo Beach/ Manhattan Beach, CA.
Responsibilities:
• Execute procedures to handle, set-up, and test Space Vehicle Systems.
• Work across disciplines with specialists from a variety of departments to perform procedures, review MGSE hardware, and coordinate tasks.
• Review and execute test procedures with oversight of STL Senior personnel to insure completeness of hardware configuration within the mechanical test program.
• Perform flight hardware integration and safely perform testing to meet requirements/objectives (uncover configuration & usage issues early).
• Directly support STL senior personnel throughout floor execution operations.
• Mentor and coach less experienced project personnel in Procedure Execution, MGSE handling, Hardware Modifications, Plan Review, as well as other hands-on & technical concepts.
• Prepare/Review task requirements, tool trades, and logistics required for the operations at the start of the task.
• Ability to review data and provide hardware/test recommendations to procedures or components to achieve testing specifications.
• Maintain specific process requirements (bonding, etc) to support daily task assignments.
• Drafts detailed drawings for ground support fabrication.
• Provides feedback to management of project performance.
• Collaborating with all stakeholders for your task.
Basic Qualifications for Mechanical Technician - Structures Test:
• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) required.
• Knowledge and experience with mechanical test integration and operations using at least one of the following: Blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, or written instructions.
• Capable of working at heights up to 30’.
• Knowledge of standard rigging procedures.
• Demonstrated experience in executing procedures and setting up tests.
• Active In-Scope SCI clearance access or able to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications for Mechanical Technician - Structures Test:
• Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance.
• Airframe and Power plant (A&P) license with related experience
• Previous experience in mechanical I&T and structures test operations.
• Experience with integration and test setup, procedure review, and test execution.
• Familiarity with Mechanical Operations department (standard) operating procedures/policies.
• Experience handling space flight hardware
• Familiarity with the NGP/AMS program(s).
