AID is looking for an Environmental Specialist to work with other environmental specialists in ensuring Arnold AFB compliance with required regulatory management of hazardous waste.

Responsibilities

  • Execute a Hazardous Waste Management Program that achieves and maintains compliance, and meets all requirements of the Hazardous Waste Storage permit
  • RCRA - Resource Conservation Recovery Act. Handling and management of solid waste from point of generation to final disposal
  • Interface with on-site waste generators to develop solutions to technical problems associated with hazardous waste management
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to waste generators for adherence to on-site and off-site waste acceptance criteria
  • Oversee base-wide accumulation points to include the proper storage, labeling and inspection to include written records documentation requirements
  • Conducts sampling of various drums, equipment, tanks, soil or waste piles generated from testing and maintenance processes
  • Interpret laboratory analytical data and characterize material for disposal in accordance with applicable regulations and disposal/treatment facilities waste acceptance criteria.
  • Package, label, and handle hazardous waste/material
  • Prepares shipping papers/records and manifests in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Verifies and performs all necessary safety checks, compliance checks and final inspections of all packages prior to transport to ensure compliance with DOT, DOE, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related science or technical field
  • 1-3 years job related experience including Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements for shipping/hauling hazardous waste/materials

Desired Qualification:
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Training
  • Environmental Certifications a plus.
