- Core Responsibilities
Responsibilities include: (a) creating print and digital graphics designed to appeal to CDP's target audiences; (b) shooting and editing photo and video content; (c) advising CDP staff on effective graphic and digital communications designs, strategies, and tactics.
Preferred Experience
At least 3 years producing graphic design materials including but not limited to detailed public infographics, branding materials, illustrations, and social media content, print content, and other similar materials.
Experience creating products that distill complex programs, ideas, or policies into visually appealing and understandable images and brands.
Example Activities
- Respond in a timely manner to CDP/SPC requests for support on graphic design and digital content creation. This includes detailed infographics and programmatic materials designed to appeal to public audiences and make CDP's work accessible and understandable to a wide variety of audiences.
- Exercise good judgement and editorial discretion in editing video and selecting photographs for CDP and Department social media properties.
- Develop a brand identity for CDP communications and individual programs, to present a standard look and feel for bureau communications and provide individual programs specific brand identities as appropriate.
- Establish relationships with other digital communications professionals in the U.S. government and beyond to strengthen CDP's external partnerships and inform creative / design choices.
- Offer guidance to CDP colleagues on capturing effective photo and video content at events.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all stakeholders including senior management and SPC colleagues.
- Participate in Strategic Planning and Communications Unit discussions on unit strategy and operations.
- Ensure an efficient two-way flow of information between CDP/SPC and other Department social media teams.
- Route work products for approval through appropriate channels, on time and in accordance with CDP bureau processes.
- Safeguard sensitive and privileged information in accordance with U.S. government regulations.
