ASM Research is seeking an AWS Cloud Architect SME on the Military OneSource Program to manage the design, development, and operation of an integrated IT, telephony, and web services cloud architecture. Aligning IT strategy with business goals is paramount, with this position helping to determine, develop, and improve technical solutions in support of the program's goals.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the high-level planning, strategy, optimization, and design of cloud infrastructure and related cloud services. Defines the architecture of the cloud solution and environments. Analyzes current and emerging technologies based on assessments of the organization's cloud technology needs. Translates business requirements into cloud process designs and serves as the lead cloud subject matter expert in support of business expansion.
  • Serve as the coordination point for the integration of AWS cloud services, network operations, VOIP telephony operations, Microsoft SharePoint administration, and web applications.
  • Analyze the current architecture and develop system roadmaps and architecture artifacts such as operational views (OVs) and systems views (SVs) for complex systems integration using the DoD Architecture framework (DODAF).
  • Coordinate with partners and technical support teams to develop the interface control documents and to establish systems interface connections.
  • Determine systems architecture requirements and priorities with all stakeholders and propose alternative solutions as required. Evaluate the alternate solutions to identify the best /right technical solution to solve the existing business problem effectively.
  • Work in an agile DevSecOps environment, which includes assessment, design, development, re-architecture, enhancement, deployment and operations and maintenance processes and procedures, and which has the goal of continuously improving the cloud program, technical, and operational framework required to deliver and manage cloud capabilities effectively and efficiently.
  • Work with DevOps engineers and software developers to integrate cloud infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and application deployments
  • Design and implement multi-region, multi-account AWS architecture for disaster recovery and high availability.
  • Optimize cloud environments for performance through monitoring, automation, and scaling strategies.
  • Design and implement AWS security frameworks, including monitoring tools, threat detection, and vulnerability management.
  • Establish monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure the health, performance, and availability of cloud services.
  • Conduct performance testing and optimization of cloud services to ensure applications meet business SLAs and KPIs.
  • Continually assess and improve cloud infrastructure to align with business growth and changing technologies.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for the AWS cloud solutions and services. Provides advanced technical and engineering support for internal groups and customers.
  • Serves as a technical lead and mentors junior team members on processes and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
  • US Citizen and fluent English speaker
  • Must possess current, active, DoD Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree with 15 years of relevant experience (additional 4 years of work experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree)
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solution Architect Professional
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar.
  • Experience with FedRAMP Cloud Service Providers
  • Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Visio for system architecture design
  • Solid working knowledge of standard computer software (Microsoft Office business suite to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)

  • Extensive knowledge of Identity Access Management and Shared Security responsibilities.
  • Broad application of backup and/or storage principles, theories, and concepts within the cloud construct.
  • Hands-on experience supporting enterprise server, backup and/or storage solutions within the cloud construct.
  • Enhanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong cloud command line scripting skills
  • Documentation skills to include creating and updating detailed environment design, installation, and support documentation.

  • AWS Advanced Networking certification
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
