About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant or Cost Allocation Specialist to support a short-term project focused on establishing an allocation methodology for overhead labor costs. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing an equitable, FAR-compliant cost allocation structure, including developing appropriate pools and bases.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop a comprehensive cost allocation methodology for distributing overhead labor across two letters/divisions.
• Ensure full compliance with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) requirements.
• Establish equitable cost pools and allocation bases in line with DCAA/DCMA standards.
• Prepare documentation and processes that would stand up to DCAA or DCMA audits.
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary cost data and labor inputs.
• Provide recommendations for ongoing cost allocation practices post-engagement.
• Deliver a final report outlining methodology, compliance, and implementation guidance.
Requirements:
• Proven experience in cost accounting, cost allocation, or government contracting finance.
• Strong knowledge of FAR, CAS (Cost Accounting Standards), and DCAA/DCMA audit processes.
• Prior experience setting up indirect cost rate structures (e.g., overhead, G&A, fringe).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver within short timelines.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• CPA, CMA, or similar accounting certification.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems used in government contracting environments.
Contract Type:
1099 or W-2 hourly, depending on preference.
