Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Experience in leadership, such as people management, team lead, mentorship, or coaching.
  • Experience in cyber-security matters (e.g., threat detection, malware intelligence, cloud security posture management, identity and access management systems).
  • Experience working in, or supporting, the US Federal Government.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time as needed.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with software life-cycles, building tools, and architecting and developing software for scalable, distributed systems, including data platform, AI/ML and infrastructure.
  • Experience as a pre-sales manager or technical customer-facing people manager within a professional services or sales engineering team.
  • Experience managing a team through sales processes, operations and career development, including account mapping, quota setting, performance management, and managing sensitive information.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders, delivering compelling messages by audience, asking strategic questions, and leading conversations that drive business opportunity.
  • Eligibility to obtain a US Government Top Secret Security Clearance.

About the job

As a Customer Engineering Manager, focused on the Cloud Security portfolio, you will lead a team to engage with business prospects, named accounts, and channel partners to understand and assess customer requirements across the US Federal Government. You will prepare and present demonstrations of Google's Cloud Security technologies and address technical objections that arise. You will lead efforts to drive solution innovation, working across the organization to identify the right assets and tools to drive customer adoption. You will manage a team of engineering professionals with strong cyber-security qualifications. You will maintain the technical expertise to engage directly with prospects and work cross-functionally.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $186,000-$261,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Customer Engineers, focusing on team culture, talent strategy, and skills development to deliver successful cloud transformation outcomes for customers and accelerate business goals.
  • Foster customer partnership and provide thought leadership related to cloud, transformation and industry trends.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to define the technical go-to-market strategy and execution plan for the team's territory. Through planning stages, determine alignment, coverage and staffing needs across opportunities.
  • Balance technical leadership with operational excellence; lead workload and opportunity review meetings and provide insight into how to achieve a technical agreement and migration strategy, working with customers, partners, and prospects.
  • Work cross-functionally across Google, partners, and your team to resolve technical roadblocks including capacity needs and constraints and product problems affecting customer satisfaction.
