Job Description :
- Develop and oversee Fiber Optics training curricula materials;
- Develop and oversee Fiber Optics training assessments;
- Conduct needs analysis and assessments to determine the appropriate content in support of Fiber Optic training;
- Select appropriate learning media to meet learning needs for Fiber Optic training;
- Develop and write standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintaining and operating Fiber Optics equipment;
- Develop reports and briefings;
- Additional duties as assigned.
Employment Status:

Qualifications:
- Prior attendance of an approved Navy Fiber Optic Training Program;
- Minimum two years' experience (e.g. training, installation, supervising, inspecting) with Navy shipboard Fiber Optics;
- "Secret" level security clearance;
- Previous experience as an instructor (Recommended)
- Ability to demonstrate a selection of Fiber Optics cable repair methods and pass a knowledge examination in order to obtain certification to instruct Fiber Optics for the Navy;
- Technical expertise in areas of termination, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cable within a fiber network using an 'OTDR' instrument as well as other types of electronic test equipment;
- Responsible for troubleshooting issues and repairing fiber optic cable within the training environment;
- Maintain test equipment and tools for continuous use;
- Ability to work independently;
- Excellent computer skills; expert in Microsoft Office software;
- Technical expertise on Fiber Optics implementations and support;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to read, interpret, organize, and synthesize source material into well-written, concise learning products;
- Ability to communicate directly with clients-effectively and tactfully;
- Ability to learn and establish a working knowledge of military terminology;
- Ability to manage a workflow;
- Ability to lift items and/or equipment up to 50 lbs on limited occasions;
- Qualified candidates should be local to the Virginia Beach, VA or surrounding areas to be considered for this position.
