• IAT Level II
Job Summary: The Senior AWS Cloud Systems Operations Administrator provides subject matter proficiency for tasks related to AWS cloud systems operations. This role involves analytical skills to support process improvement, specialized studies, and definition of requirements. Typical duties include analysis, planning, developing requirements documents, building functional models, developing procedures, developing functional architectures, and other related management and technical duties.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deploy, manage, and operate workloads on AWS.
• Implement security controls and compliance requirements.
• Utilize both the AWS Management Console and AWS Command Line Interface (CLI).
• Apply understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework, AWS networking, and security services.
• Provide expertise in specialty areas, including proficiency in AWS tools such as Kubernetes, EKS, Diode, Lambda, etc., orchestrated/deployed in a cloud environment.
Qualifications:
1. Experience:
• At least ten (10) years of overall experience in one or more functional areas listed below. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. A master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.
• 10 years IT systems administrative experience with both Microsoft and Linux platforms.
• Proficient understanding of maintenance (patching, STIG, and upgrade processes) on AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience and/or training in system administration related to managing and operating workloads on AWS systems.
• Demonstrated experience in system administration support and management related to Amazon EKS.
• Demonstrated experience in system administration and supporting development and test teams in AWS, along with an applied understanding of Kubernetes and traditional RHEL servers.
• Kubernetes CKA certification and/or training and two years applied experience on containerized platforms.
2. Certifications and Training:
o A senior level AWS Cloud Systems Operations Administrator should have at least three (3) of the following trainings or certifications and at least two (2) years applied experience with container orchestration and/or application deployment. Four (4) years proven relevant experience may be substituted as applicable to each certification:
 AWS Cloud Practitioner (Foundational)
 AWS SysOps Administrator (Associate)
 Operating a Production Kubernetes Cluster
 Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA)
 Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
 Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
 RH294: RHEL Linux Automation with Ansible
Preferred Skills:
• Proficiency in AWS tools such as Kubernetes, EKS, Diode, Lambda, etc.
• Strong analytical skills to support process improvement and specialized studies.
• Ability to develop functional models, procedures, and architectures.
