Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer / Systems Administrator to support the Government Lead in the daily engineering duties of complex network systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Local Area Network (LAN), Base Area Network (BAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN) administration, as well as expertise in network design, integration, and security. This role requires a proactive professional with a deep understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) standards, Unified Capabilities Requirements, and Information Assurance (IA) protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Network Administration and Management:
Perform general LAN/BAN/WAN administration, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving network-related issues.
Schedule and oversee network conversions and cutovers to ensure minimal downtime.
Develop, update, and track Internet Protocol (IP) schemes and address management.
Network Design and Integration:
Evaluate, design, and implement communication hardware and software solutions.
Execute LAN/BAN and Data Center Switching network design, integration, and implementation.
Support the engineering and design of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, enabling seamless integration between telephone systems and data networks.
Integrate multivendor solutions utilizing technologies from Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, and other vendors.
Security and Compliance:
Enforce DoD Unified Capabilities Requirements and monitor security updates in accordance with Government procedures.
Design and integrate network security measures, including VLANs, Access Control Lists (ACLs), and Layer 2 Virtual Private Networks (L2 VPNs).
Integrate Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates with network accounts to support two-factor authentication and eliminate password-based authentication.
Directory Services and Rights Management:
Operate and manage Active Directory (AD) services, including Windows Light Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) for network devices.
Monitor and optimize directory service replication speed.
Oversee Rights Management Services for administrators, users, and groups.
Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting:
Optimize network performance to ensure high-speed data transfer and low latency.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues promptly to maintain operational continuity.
Manage Domain Name Server (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Portal (DHCP) services.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
Provide regular reports to the Government Lead on network performance, security incidents, and compliance status.
Certification and Compliance:
Maintain ITIL version 3 Foundation certification and professional-level vendor certifications (e.g., CCNP Routing and Switching, CCNP Data Center, JNCIP, or equivalent).
Ensure compliance with DoD 8570.01-M standards, including IAT Level III and IASAE II certifications.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering, systems administration, or a related field.
Proven experience in the performance, design, configuration, and testing of complex large-scale computer networks.
Hands-on experience with DNS, DHCP, and multivendor solutions (Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, etc.).
Certifications:
ITIL version 3 Foundation certification.
Professional-level certifications such as CCNP Routing and Switching, CCNP Data Center, JNCIP, or equivalent.
IAT Level III and IASAE II certifications (required for DoD 8570.01-M compliance).
Clearance:
Active Secret Clearance (required).
Skills:
Strong knowledge of LAN/BAN/WAN administration, VoIP services, and network security.
