A TEKsystems client is seeking multiple Network Engineers to support a large program on site at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance, CompTIA Security+, and CCNA.
Responsibilities
-Oversee intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, boundary protection and vulnerability assessment operations to defend the Air Force Network (AFNet).
- Expertly resolve complex technical network issues that arise.
- Investigate and rectify malfunctions in network hardware and other systems to ensure service continuity.
- Meticulously monitor and manage all WAN circuits, ensuring optimal performance.
- Deploy network and application systems as per specifications and requirements.
- Configure and set up various network equipment, including switches, routers, and access points.
- Respond promptly to remote assistance requests from colleagues and service partners, providing expert technical support.
- Actively participate in project meetings, effectively relaying project status updates to the team.
- Create and maintain comprehensive network support and implementation handover documentation for the Helpdesk.
- Manage assigned tasks and projects independently, ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines.
- Provide backup support to other team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Undertake any other assignments or duties as directed by management, demonstrating adaptability and versatility.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across multiple devices to include routers, switches, firewalls, and management systems.
- Understand and implement disaster recovery procedures.
- Experience interpreting, implementing, and assessing DISA STIGs
- Knowledge of cybersecurity hardening practices for major network platforms (Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, etc.)
- Familiarity with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Experience monitoring, diagnosing, and optimizing network performance while maintaining IA compliance.
Requirements:
- Active Secret Clearance
- CompTIA Security+CE
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- 3-5 years of hands on network engineering experience:
- Installation, configuration, and support of network switches, routers, and wireless APs
- LAN, WAN, and WLAN implementation and management
- Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Cisco IOS
platforms
- Knowledge of networking protocols and IP subnetting
- Knowledge of routing protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IS-IS)
